Hanska City Council – Regular Meeting

January 10, 2022

6pm – Hanska Community Center

Regular Meeting was called to order by Mayor Vee at 6:00pm. Members present: Vee, Geiger, Miller, Strom and Larson. Members absent: None

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Miller moved to approve the agenda. Seconded by Geiger. Motion passed.

Geiger moved to approve minutes from December 13, & 29, 2021 meeting. Seconded by Strom. Motion passed.

Larson moved to approve City and Muni claims. Seconded by Strom. Motion passed.

Muni – Manager Melissa Grote was present. Grote has been cleaning the ice machine she must empty all ice to do this, back hurts when done with this. Grote got an estimate from Draft Services for $110.00 per hour for Ice machine cleaning and sanitizing. Grote will get on the schedule for cleaning. Meat raffle is going well, going to keep at 1 time a month possibly go to 2 per month. They don’t want to do too many; people will tire of it. Entertainment was talked about; council wants to wait until it gets warmer. Lights continue to be left on at night, note by alarm? Plexiglass on window needs to be installed yet. January 29th fishing contest on Lake Hanska, extra bartender maybe needed.

Library – 4 fundraisers scheduled for 2022. 4/23/2020 craft fair with food truck, (possible food truck will go to Muni when done). Wine Pull, craft fair and spaghetti dinner. Bob Fitter will fix the siding on the back for $300-400. Travis is working on the ventilation in furnace room.

Public Works – Sidewalks on Broadway- 2 residents will receive a $75.00 fee. City Clerk will send letters to main street property owners, let them know they need to be removing their own snow. There will be a $75.00 fee if City removes snow. Blair property – Hjerpe did the repair for $2000.00. Travis has not been able to check the meter. Darla Colebank will be contacted about cleaning the Community Center and Club House. Council would like to see what she would charge. Council approved the purchases of 5 AED boxes for 568.54. Council approved the installation of outlet under the City Clerks desk, change to 4 plugs.

Resolution 2022-1 Stating Annual Designations was passed after roll call conducted. All members voting yes.

Resolution 2022-2 Access to Bank Accounts was passed after roll call conducted. All members voting yes.

City Clerk – Ice Rink- Evan Fischer was hired to work the warming house. Evan can only work limited hours. City is having a hard time finding someone to work the warming house. Clerk checked with another city and they don’t staff the warming house, security cameras are up. Clerk will check into the cost of security cameras for the warming house. Clerk will get signs with warming house rules and City is not liable sign. Unpaid utility bills have been added to property taxes. Vicki Strassburg says she is disputing the 985.00 bill for water main repair. She says they never gave permission to do the repair. Clerk will send her copies of text message that shows she did give permission.

Strom made motion to adjourn at 7:03pm. Seconded by Miller. Meeting adjourned.
