Hanska City Council – Regular Meeting

October 11th, 2022

6pm – Hanska Community Center

Regular meeting was called to order by Mayor Vee at 6:00pm. Members present: Vee, Geiger, Miller, Strom, and Larson. Members absent: None

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Geiger moved to approve the agenda. Seconded by Miller. Motion passed.

Matt from Bolton and Menk was present. Final Assessment Hearing was held for Summit Street project. 4 residents attended, they voiced concerns about the grade of the street and sidewalks. Matt said there is a 2-year warranty and if there are issues, they will be addressed at the end of the warranty. Matt went over the Assessment of 3.25% for 20 years.

Miller made a motion for Resolution 2022-8 Adopting Assessment. Strom 2nd the motion. Resolution passed with all in favor.

Geiger moved to approve minutes from September 12th and September 26th 2022. Seconded by Miller. Motion passed

Miller moved to approve City and Muni claims. Seconded by Strom. Motion passed.

Muni- Clerk gave updates on MUNI. Manager Katie gave a 2-day notice on September 22nd. MUNI was open September 28th and 29th with a $2.00 sale to use up kegs and open bottles.
All beer that could be returned was sent back for a refund. Clerk is going to find out about liquor. DJ for October 29th has been cancelled. Eddy Dingman took a tour of the MUNI on October 6th; Eddy is very in interested in the MUNI and wants an update after the City Council Meeting.

Library- Mayor Vee gave update. Wine pull is October 14th 5:30-7:30 at the Last Chance, beer and cider tasting is November 18th 6:30-8:30.

Public works- Water meters are half done. Paving of alley was brought up, City can’t afford to have this done. Teri from the MPCA did the inspection for the City of Hanska, everything went well, she did bring up the point-of-sale ordinance and asked what the cities plan is for this.

City Clerk- Clerk is going to do another order of Hanska clothing along with hats and travel mugs for Christmas. Clerk is still sending out water shut offs, per law water can be shut off in winter as long as it’s not used for heating. There were some issues with the water meter exchange on the billing side but those have been fixed.

Open- Mayor Vee said the Bandstand has been painted.

Geiger made a motion to adjourn, Strom seconded, meeting was adjourned at 7:09pm.
