Hanska City Council – Regular Meeting
March 14, 2022
6pm – Hanska Community Center
Regular Meeting was called to order by Mayor Vee at 6:00pm. Members present: Vee, Geiger, Miller, Strom and Larson. Members absent: None
Pledge of Allegiance was recited.
Geiger moved to approve the agenda. Seconded by Miller. Motion passed.
Larson moved to approve minutes from January 10th, 2022 meeting. Seconded by Strom. Motion passed.
Geiger moved to approve City and Muni claims. Seconded by Strom. Motion passed.
Muni – Manager Melissa Grote was absent. Vee gave Muni update. Ice machine was serviced by Midwest Refrigeration and is working. Midwest did an acid cleaning on the ice machine and recommended that the ice machine is cleaned/serviced every 6 months. Vee would talk to Muni manger Grote about this. Council would also like to have the ice machine at the Bowling Alley looked at by MW and find out its condition. Old Chrome Band will play on April 23rd, cost of band it $300.00.
Library – Library Director Lisa Doege is looking for another job. Spring Fling Craft Show is 4/23/2022. 17 vendors registered. City of Madelia along with business have donated items for a silent auction.
Public Works –Shop expansion will be added to the 2023 budget. Railroad Ave-road is getting pretty bad. Tauer was able to get into Blair residence, water meter is not working, but isn’t damaged.
City Clerk – Shirts and Hoodies have been ordered for Spring Fling. Sale price was set for hoodies/t-shirts.
Adult hoodies – $35.00, Adult T-shirts – $18.00
Kids hoodie – 25.00, Kids T-shirt – 10.00
Clerk said no one has paid the $75.00 snow removal bill. Clerk is checking into the order status of end points.
After discussion with Tauer and clerk about vacation and sick time, council made the following changes to City of Hanska’s employee hand book.
4 weeks of vacation after 10 years. 10 days of sick time per year. Sick time will be prorated for the remainder of the year. Clerk was informed of yellow dog running around, owner is 202
Larson made motion to adjourn at 7:23pm. Seconded by Geiger. Meeting adjourned.

EDA – Nelson wants City of Hanska to put in a walk-in shower. After discussion the City of Hanska will not pay for the installation of a walk-in shower.
